The first chiral organometallic triangle for asymmetric catalysis.
A family of chiral organometallic triangles based on cis-Pt(PEt3)2 metallocorners and enantiopure atropisomeric bis(alkynyl) bridging ligands (L1-4) has been synthesized and characterized by 1H, 13C{1H}, and 31P{1H} NMR, UV-vis, and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopies, FAB and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, and microanalysis. Metallocycle 4 which contains three 1,1'-bi-2-naphthol functionaliti...
متن کاملThe first catalytic asymmetric thioacetalization by chiral phosphoric acid catalysis.
We report here the first catalytic asymmetric thioacetalization of salicylaldehyde and dithiol. Chiral phosphoric acid STRIP C5 is identified as a powerful catalyst for this reaction to afford various chiral dithioacetals in high to excellent yields and enantioselectivities under mild conditions.
متن کاملChiral allene-containing phosphines in asymmetric catalysis.
We demonstrate that allenes, chiral 1,2-dienes, appended with basic functionality can serve as ligands for transition metals. We describe an allene-containing bisphosphine that, when coordinated to Rh(I), promotes the asymmetric addition of arylboronic acids to α-keto esters with high enantioselectivity. Solution and solid-state structural analysis reveals that one olefin of the allene can coor...
متن کاملIon-paired chiral ligands for asymmetric palladium catalysis.
Conventional chiral ligands rely on the use of a covalently constructed, single chiral molecule embedded with coordinative functional groups. Here, we report a new strategy for the design of a chiral ligand for asymmetric transition-metal catalysis; our approach is based on the development of an achiral cationic ammonium-phosphine hybrid ligand paired with a chiral binaphtholate anion. This ion...
متن کاملDesigning organometallic compounds for catalysis and therapy.
Bioorganometallic chemistry is a rapidly developing area of research. In recent years organometallic compounds have provided a rich platform for the design of effective catalysts, e.g. for olefin metathesis and transfer hydrogenation. Electronic and steric effects are used to control both the thermodynamics and kinetics of ligand substitution and redox reactions of metal ions, especially Ru(II)...
